39th Report in 2013: The Analysis of the Public Evaluation on Scientists' Research Capacity, Scientific Spirit and Morality

Abstract: The research  found that, 62.8% of the public believed that research ability of Chinese scientists was better than or almost the same as the developed countries'. This result was similar with 2007's, but much higher than the S&T personnels' self-evaluation (31.9%). 32.6% believed that Chinese scientists had serious credit problems in R&D activities, which doubled than in 2007. 33.8% believed that Chinese scientists were lack of preparedness to work hard, which 7.1% higher than in 2007. 70.3% acknowledged that they were not familiar with or knew nothing about Chinese scientists.
