Abstract: Recently, based on the recommendation of the White HouseOffice of Science, Technology and Policy (OSTP), Obama launched Advanced Manufacturing Partnership (AMP)to create more jobs, promote innovation capability, and ensure the national security. AMP called for a partnership among government, industry, and academia, and was implemented by U.S. top engineering universities and major U.S. manufacturers, under a good innovation environment provided by the federal government. Through fomulating the roadmap of advanced manufacturing technology, AMP adopted multiple measurements, which would have huge impacts on China's manufacturers. To meet the challenges, China should highlight the strategic status of advanced manufacturing, emphasize the development of green and high-tech manufacture, and keep improving its indigenous innovation capability.
