Abstract: Although the general unemployment rate in the disaster area is not high, most of the employed are peasants, self-employers and temporary workers while those have permanent jobs only account for 16.0% of the total. 71.6% of the employees own less than RMB 1000 per month and 38.4% say their incomes are less than that of pre-quake. 27.9% expect they will leave or lose the current job in two years and 4.2% worry about losing current job when the reconstruction projects are completed. Therefore, the quality of employment is very low. Attention shall be paid to potential unemployment risk when reconstruction projects in the disaster area are completed. |
