Abstract: Equipment and its components are critical to developing of strategic emerging industries. Based on analysis of the strategic position and issues in development of the component industry in China, the article recommends developing the component industry in China through resolving issues like “technology void” and less added value of domestic equipment through improvement of capacity in R&D and manufacturing of components, respecting the importance of providing systematic support to component R&D in developing strategic emerging industries, and with comprehensive policy tools, supporting some advantageous enterprises building their expertise with R&D breakthrough in some key products.
